Our Perspective... Support our troops, even if not the actions
Appalachian State University has already begun experiencing the pangs of military action in Iraq.
With troops being shipped off, the community must watch friends, family and fellow students leave to fight in a war they may or may not support.
A common misconception about war efforts is if one opposes the military actions, he must also show no support of the troops.
   However, this notion is false.
Supporting the troops simply means providing comfort and support to those soldiers who have chosen to be in the military to protect our country and follow actions laid out by the commander-in-chief.
Procrastination: A student’s worst addiction

COMMENTARY

   I am addicted. I am a junkie.
It’s been this way for years, and I just haven’t ever been strong enough to break the vicious cycle I have been trapped in.
Addiction comes in many forms, especially at Appalachian State University. Drinking, drugs, sex; you name it. Everyone has a vice.
My addiction, however, doesn’t come from a bottle or from the end of a joint.
The little devil that pops up on my shoulder when I am at my weakest goes by the name of procrastination.
Patriotic while studying overseas, staying safe

After 9-11, I thought I would never be able to study overseas. Although I wasn’t afraid something would happen while I was flying, my parents were worried about the state of the United States after retaliation. After a year passed it seemed things had subsided to some degree, and here I am in England studying on exchange at Keele University. Ironically, war didn’t break out while I was being cautious in America, it has broken out while I am here.
