The “Polar Plunge,” sponsored in part by the University Police, took place at Duck Pond Thursday. Participants from all over the area jumped into the water to help benefit the Special Olympics of Watauga County.

The Department of Theatre and Dance presented the Comedy “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” in I.G. Greer Arena Theatre over the weekend. The play was produced by the National Dramatic Honor Society.

Ice storms last weekend created treacherous conditions in Boone and the surrounding areas. Classes were canceled Monday, for the second time this year. The cancelation makes only the second time in recorded history for two days of canceled classes during one academic year.

Army ROTC cadets perform Situational Training Exercises (STX) Thursday in the University Woods. Each STX is a 2-3 hour mission where a squad must react to a situation such as the above reconnaissance mission where they must remain undetected while locating the “enemy” and uploading the location.
