'Greatest rock band of all time' cover hits Legends

Bringing back the sounds of one of the greatest rock bands of all time, ZoSo storms into Legends Thursday.

Members Matt Jernigan, Greg Thompson, Jay Bobo and Adam Sandling comprise ZoSo.

The band has been producing the most authentic live Led Zeppelin sound since 1995.

Funky Capt. Soularcat brings tour through Boone

Captain Soularcat will stop in Boone Thursday for a show at Murphy’s Restaurant & Pub.

The five members of the rock ‘n’ roll band have played in Boone several times before and are looking forward to returning to the mountains.

V stands for Valentines, vaginas: Monologues come to campus

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and the third annual “Vagina Monologues” will be presented Thursday through Saturday in Plemmons Student Union in the Blue Ridge Ballroom.

“Valentine’s is supposed to be about love and starts with the letter ‘V,’ making it easy to connect with ‘Vagina Monologues.’ It also has to do with the ideal of love,” director and department of theatre adjunct instructor Anna G. Ward said last Friday.

The AKAs: Saving rock 'n' roll one show at a time

The duties of a touring musician do not end with playing a set and hocking merchandise. There is loading and unloading equipment, fixing broken equipment, long drives in smelly vans, trying to find a place to sleep (and shower) and most of all, trying to stretch a dollar to its absolute breaking point.

One thing a musician never wants to be a part of though, is helping carry the unconscious body of a crowd member outside.

That’s exactly where AKA’s front man Mike Ski found himself last Sunday, as fights erupted during tour mates Walls of Jericho’s set.
