Horror and comedy mix for 'Dreaded'
review |
This Christmas, I found myself smack dab in the middle of a city
that had Christmas cheer written all over it; a city that has salutations
of goodwill and peace toward our fellow man echoing through its
streets.
That’s right, I was in Vegas.
Now, I could tell you about losing all my money to the one-armed
bandit. I could tell you about the piles of excess or the sheer
helplessness one feels when they walk into a casino Christmas morning
to see a child asleep by the door while their parents are off gambling.

| Unusual sounds beat from Rosen |

The New Paradigm Percussion Quartet brings a variety of music
pieces and styles to the Rosen Concert Hall stage tonight in its
only performance of the year.
Director and associate professor Dr. Robert J. Falvo created the
New Paradigm Percussion Quartet seven years ago.
“I thought, to cover more of the repertoire, I could develop
a percussion quartet that called for slightly more rehearsal time
and for percussionists who were really motivated, interested,
talented and who wanted to pursue this type of literature,”

| Inspirations for Leupold brought to center stage |

Bringing together a wide range of musical tastes, senior music theory
and composition major John K. Leupold II brings a taste of his composition
skills to Rosen Concert Hall March 16.
Leupold’s pieces cover steel drums, chamber music and trombone
solos.
“I just selected pieces I enjoyed, and there were plenty of
pieces to choose from,” Leupold said.

| Child prodigy plays Boone |

Considered a musical prodigy since he
first picked up a guitar as an 8-year-old, Seth Yacovone will perform
with his band in Boone at Murphy’s Restaurant and Pub tonight
at 10 p.m.
The Seth Yacovone Band opened for blues legend B.B. King five times
while Yacovone played with the jam band Phish at the age of 17.
SYB has also shared the stage with Ray Charles and guitarist Warren
Haynes.
