Baseball swings for the fences against Davidson
Appalachian State University baseball got off on a hot start for the weekend last Friday, defeating Davidson College 8-3 at Red Lackey Field.

Brad Peisel led the way in the first inning for the Mountaineers, capping the four-run first with a two-run double.

Senior Rhonda White from Charlotte was named the Southern Conference Indoor Athlete of the Year for her efforts this season.

If it were not for an egregious coaching error and a lie, Ronda White would have qualified for the nationals as a member of the University of Kentucky track team.

Coming from Charlotte, White and her twin sister Tondra both decided to attend Kentucky, passing over Appalachian State University and several other schools that recruited them heavily.

During her freshman season, Ronda tore her quadriceps muscle during a run in the indoor season.
