Mason Lovette Band returns to Whitewater by Stephanie Marshall

   Once a country cover band and now a southern rock band, the Mason Lovette Band, playing Saturday at 10 p.m. in Whitewater, came a long way since playing at Appalachian State University last November.
    “Matt and I are the only original members of the band left,” lead guitarist Michael Sudyk said Monday.
    “There have been many rumors that the band was going to split, yet with the new guys we have recently found that is not looking to happen at all,” Sudyk said.

Juliana Theory plays Legends by Kevin DeLury

   After two years of talks, the Appalachian Popular Programming Society has scheduled The Juliana Theory to play a show at Appalachian State University tonight at 9 p.m. in Legends.
   “They’ve been on our brainstorming list last year and the year before as a band we’d really love to have up here,” said Peter Van Schoick, Chairperson for APPS Stage Shows, “So this summer we got it all set up. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time.”

Despite laughs, Spade leaves much to be desired by Kevin DeLury

      Seeing as how I get paid to tell people what I think of movies, there are two categories I’ve fallen into the habit of putting things in: “Rocks” and “Sucks.”
    So far, this method has worked surprisingly well for me, given the amount of horrible films released recently and the very few gems Hollywood has managed to spit out.
    But now I’m faced with a problem. What do you do when a film makes you laugh, yet you walk away from it feeling slightly cheated?
