Old rivals meet for historically brutal Battle for Old Mountain Jug by Brad Norman

The Battle for the Old Mountain Jug has been less of a battle and more of a massacre, not only for the past couple years but also for the past two decades.

Appalachian State University defeated Western Carolina University (4-6, 3-4) 17 of the last 18 meetings and currently has a winning streak of four games.

With Appalachian on the bubble for receiving an at-large playoff bid, the game against Western has added meaning.

SoCon tournament action begins with fourth-seeded Furman by Hugh Kellenberger

The Appalachian State University Men’s Soccer team begins Southern Conference Tournament action tomorrow in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The fifth-seeded ASU Mountaineers will face off against fourth-seeded Furman University at 4:30 p.m.

Furman and Appalachian State faced off just 11 days ago in Boone, with Furman coming out victorious by a score of 2-1.

Renewed dedication, commitment turn around last season's club football flop by Michael Trivette

This year, the Appalachian State University club football team made a complete turn around from last season, sophomore Jimmy Hill said.

The Mountaineers, who play in the Southern Collegiate Carolina Football Association, stand at 4-2 in conference play (5-3 overall), far better than last year’s 1-8 record.
