in the Rivers Street Parking Deck were immersed
in water Wednesday. |
Unexpected, persistent rainfall Tuesday night and Wednesday
morning left Appalachian State University Parking and Traffic
Department up a creek in the Rivers Street Parking Deck.
Constant rains dumped almost 2 feet of water into the first
level of the parking deck by 10 a.m. Wednesday, ASU Traffic
Officer Curtis Moore said.
Moore said Parking and Traffic began work early Wednesday
morning, pumping water out of the flooded bottom level and
calling owners of vehicles parked in the first level.
“We woke a lot of people up this morning and surprised
them,” Moore said.
Moore said the Parking and Traffic Department guided drivers
out of the first level and closed the level until the flooding
could be alleviated.

The manufacturing of methamphetamine
does not create a weapon of mass destruction, Superior Court
Judge James L. Baker ruled Nov. 7.
Baker dismissed 15 cases against Watauga County individuals
charged with the manufacture of a chemical weapon of mass
destruction, and said that North Carolina General Statute
14-288.21 is unconstitutional on its face and unconstitutionally
applied to methamphetamine manufacturers.
