Women’s Volleyball Tournament

In his first year as head coach, Chad Callihan led the Appalachian State University Women’s Volleyball squad to a first-place finish in the North Division and a number one seed in the Southern Conference tournament this weekend in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Appalachian State (15-16, 13-5 in SoCon) will play Davidson College, the fourth seed from the South Division, Friday at 10 a.m. Davidson fell to ASU 3-0 on Oct. 17 in Boone.

“They had a lot of young players on the floor last time,” Callihan said. “[Davidson] is a dangerous team, tough to play in the first round.”

Club Football

The Appalachian State University club football team continues to build on this year’s success with a dramatic 22-13 win this past weekend over the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

With the win, the Mountaineers advance to the Southern Collegiate Carolina Football Association Championship against the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

ASU is now 6-3 on the season.

Women’s Club Volleyball

The Appalachian State University women’s club volleyball A-team went 5-3 in the conference tournament held in Boone, good enough to secure fourth out of nine teams.

“I thought we played well given the circumstances we dealt with,” junior Leslie McNeill said.

McNeill, who is captain of the A-team, suffered a knee injury and did not return to playing.
