'The Cat in the Hat' falls flat
There once was a writer, an angry young lad.
His writing was bitter and lonely and sad.
Each week he would go see a new picture show.
Each week all the movies continued to blow.

He threw up his arms in a fit of dismay.
“What movie should I go and review today?
Is there anything out there that’s totally neat?
A movie that won’t make me cringe in my seat?”

Park Bench Trio returns to Murphy's tonight

Check out one of the last shows of the semester tonight at Murphy’s Restaurant and Pub. Park Bench Trio performs in Boone for the first time in almost two years.

Based out of Athens, Ga., the trio has recently been touring the western U.S. and will come to the Southeast promoting their debut album “Bitch Road.” The CD combines the band’s strong blues influence with classic rock-and-roll.

Transplanted alt-rockers Tinkers Punishment are headed toward Boone, coming to Whitewater in Plemmons Student Union tomorrow night.

Playing together for four years, Tinkers Punishment has rocked up and down the East Coast instead of its native Colorado.
“We wanted to be over here in Charleston because there were just so many markets up and down the seaboard,” lead singer Michael Robinson said.

'Santaland Diaries' returns this season for encore performance

The Christmas season has arrived and on its tail is the “Santaland Diaries,” which began a four-day run yesterday in I.G. Greer Arena Theatre.

“This is an encore performance of last year’s production. Last year we sold out and we wanted to give people the chance to see it again,” Stage Manager and senior Mandi S. McCallister said.
