Options must be weighed in land development

Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock recently revealed one of the ideas for a recent land purchase that has been floating around the community.
Sixty acres of land near State Farm Field could possibly be used to build a new athletic stadium.

At this point, no one’s quite sure what will go there. While the stadium idea is a possibility, other choices include a new health-care facility or even more student housing.

As Peacock told The Appalachian, it is not often a university gets 60 acres of land.

The Appalachian feels this is a situation that should be approached after considering the pros and cons of every scenario.

ACC or SEC: Which is biggest football power?

ACC

The heart of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is basketball, and it will always be basketball.

But by executing a bold move and adding perrennial football power Miami University, along with the up-and-coming football programs of Virginia Tech and Boston College, the ACC sent notice that they were gunning for supremacy in college football as well.

It's hard to write about college football right now considering the Boston Red Sox's historic comeback, but there's a pretty good college football season taking place right now.

College football has pulled out all the stops in the first half of the season. Come-from-behind victories, big showdowns between highly ranked schools and upsets of great proportion are weekly norms.
