Athletics director resigns after 14 years Roachel J. Laney, director of athletics for Appalachian State University, has resigned from his position, effective Nov. 30, according to a Nov. 17 press release from Appalachian State. BOG: no board-based tuition increase The University of North Carolina Board of Governorsvoted Friday for no board-based tuition increases in accordance with a recommendation from UNC President Molly C. Broad. Courts declare Highlands tax exempt The issue as to whether University Highlands should be exempt from property taxes was settled, but the corporation that owns the complex does not know when they might get their money back or for what purpose it will be used. Criticism rises over common area Bible study Should Bible studies be held in common areas? Students living in East Residence Hall at Appalachian State University have recently raised this topic as a concern. The Student Government Association (SGA) said “hai” (yes) to a resolution supporting the creation of a Japanese minor at Appalachian State University during Tuesday night’s Senate meeting. UNC system offers DC residence Appalachian State University is teaming up with 13 other North Carolina universities while creating a system-wide program in Washington, D.C. The UNC in Washington program allows students from participating campuses to spend a semester in D.C. to work and intern. |
