At the Movies: 'Hero' artistically, emotionally satisfying

We’ve reached the tail end of the summer movie season once again. But where we are used to finding the studio duds that get thrown out for cheap blockbuster cash, (“Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid”) we get a pleasant and wonderful surprise in “Hero”.

Previous story cuts, legal troubles and Quentin Tarantino are all involved in its U.S. release. Don’t ask. Just watch.

Watching this film is surely one of the great cinematic pleasures of the year. Yimou, aided by his cinematographer Christopher Doyle, has made a film of unbelievable beauty. The use of color, visual movement, and choreography is incredible.
