Late football rally stymied in 40-35 loss

After last week's 28-14 win against The Citadel, head coach Jerry Moore said the rest of the season's success will be determined by how much fight the Appalachian State players have in them.

They showed plenty of fight Saturday against Northwestern State.

It just came a little too late.

The Mountaineers' furious comeback attempt was stopped when quarterback Richie Williams was sacked on the NSU 29 yard-line with just over a minute remaining, giving the Demons a tough 40-35 victory.

Volleyball cleans house with Aggies

The Appalachian volleyball ladies had their hands full with North Carolina A&T.

The game was full of holes, open lanes and clear sailings across the net for a clean sweep of the Aggies, 3-0.

Field hockey too much for Catawba

There is not a better way to make up for losing four out of five games and scoring a total of zero goals than putting up five scores and shutting down an opponent the way ASU’s field hockey squad did Sunday against the Catawba Indians.

The Mountaineers soared to a 5-0 spanking of the Indians.
