Addicted to being blue?

I’m in the doctor’s office waiting and I am told that it will be a while before I get called back, so I pick up the latest issue of Newsweek.

Much to my displeasure, I cannot flip through five pages of the magazine without seeing an ad for antidepressants.

There is an almost glamorously enlarged photo of a blue pill, accompanied by a checklist for symptoms of depression.

I am going to have to start this column with possibly one of the most obvious comments ever expressed.

We as Americans are some crazy, weird people.

Even though this fact seems very apparent, we somehow feel the need to constantly reiterate our freakishness.
