In an unlikely turn of events, a horror movie sequel turns out to be less effective and creative than the original. What are the odds, huh?
“The Ring Two” is somewhat tense, but mostly it’s just confused and tired.
Stranger still is that the sequel’s director, Hideo Nakata, directed the original Japanese films “Ringu” and “Ringu 2” from which the American movies are inspired. Usually it’s the American director remaking the international film that messes things up, not the other way around.

New prof moves from Hollywood to Boone

Glenn A. Bruce may be the most famous person at Appalachian State University that most students have not heard of.
Bruce, who teaches acting and screenwriting, in the department of theatre and dance, has written screenplays and scripts for well-known films and television shows for 27 years.

March is the month to celebrate women and their history. In that spirit, the Visiting Writers Series is bringing an accomplished Native American author to Appalachian State University.
Allison Adelle Hedge Coke will speak in the Linville Falls Room of Plemmons Student Union at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
