Installation honors ASU history

Appalachian State University will see its sixth chancellor, Dr. Kenneth E. Peacock, installed into office April 22 at 10 a.m. in the Holmes Convocation Center, a little over 10 months after he assumed the office July 1, 2004.

Chancellor, student switch in annual Chancellor-for-a-Day

The Appalachian Student Ambassadors will present the annual Chancellor-For-A-Day switch Thursday.

This year's winner is junior accounting major Helen E. Archer. Archer is also a trainer for Appalachian's women's basketball team.

Students experience civil rights movement during break

Spring Break may have been a time to rest and relax for many Appalachian State University students, but for a select few, it became a learning experience they won't soon forget.

Dr. Joe J. Gonzalez, along with nine students in his "History on the Road" class, took a five-day trip to Selma, Ala., to witness and film the 40th anniversary celebration of the Civil Rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., a major event in the Civil Rights movement.

Tunnel of Oppression informs campus

 "Find a cause and find a difference, see the change, and build a network of opportunity for all people," was the goal for the Student Government Association's Tunnel of Oppression that took place last weekend in the Blue Ridge Ballroom Friday from 7-10 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
