This Friday, September 19, Wachovia is offering students the opportunity to participate in mock interviews. Each student will be videotaped and their performance critiqued. All majors are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity but they must first register on 1stPlace. Call the office for more details at 262-2180.

In addition to the mock interviews on September 19, Wachovia is inviting students to "Tent Day" on September 18 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in front of the College of Business. Free food and drinks!

Thursday night, September 18, Wachovia will host a general presentation at the Broyhill Inn from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A recruitment video will be shown, and business attire is requested, but there's more free food!

University Bookstore

December '97 graduates can order official Appalachian invitations and announcements and purchase undergraduate and masters caps and gowns from Setpember 22-24, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The sale will be on the top floor of the University Bookstore. Diploma frames, class rings, and other cool alumni stuff is also available.

The weight room will be open the same hours as the facility, except from 9:00 a.m. - noon, Monday through Friday. The gym and indoor track are available for use at all times the facility is open except on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

ACT

ASU students interested in volunteer opportunities are invited to attend an orientation session for ACT (Appalachian and the Community Together). Each session will provide an opportunity to learn about local needs working with community, people, and the environemtn. Volunteering your time and talents is an excellent way to explore your interests, build your resume, and it also feels good! For more information, call 262-2193. Orientation dates are as follows. Orientation sessions are in the Calloway Peak Room of Plemmons Student Union.


Visiting Writers Series

Appalachian House

Stay at the Appalachian House in Washington, D.C., located three blocks behind the Capitol. Students, faculty, and staff can stay for $20 per person per night. Alumni and non-Appalachian persons can stay for $27 per person per night. Reservations can be made a year in advance. For reservations or additional information, contact the Instructional Technology Center at 262-2132.


Leadership 101

If you don't know what you want, you will probably never get it. Goals give you direction and help you get where you're going. If setting goals is a problem for you and your organization, you might be interested in Leadership 101, a leadership series for club and organization members. The series begins Tuesday, September 16, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., in the Watauga River Room of Plemmons Student Union.
