Family Weekend

Annual Fall Open House and Family Weekend activities come to Appalachian State University Oct. 17-19 as current and future students and their families come to campus for an activity-filled weekend.

The weekend will offer an information fair with open sessions on financial aid and scholarship opportunities, admissions, and university activities and programs.

Other highlights include fine arts attractions, films, musical performances and football against Georgia Southern Oct. 18.

Goldwater Scholarship

Appalachian State University students majoring in engineering, natural sciences or mathematics can apply for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program on or before Oct. 1.

The Goldwater scholarship was established by Congress in 1986 to offer educational scholarships to college students with excellent academic histories and an interest in any of the above majors and careers.

Applicants must be full-time sophomores or juniors with a B grade point average and must be ranked within the top fourth of their class.

Fall Dance Concert

Dance enthusiasts are welcome to attend the Appalachian State University Fall Dance Concert Oct. 16-18 in Valborg Theatre.

The three-day festival features various recitals, beginning Oct. 16 with performances from area choreographers and dancers including ASU dance department faculty and students.

Performances Oct. 17 and 18 will feature work from choreographers and performers from across the state.

All Fall Dance Concert activities begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

SGA Openings

Senate seats in the Appalachian State University Student Government Association are still available through petition.

Positions for both on and off-campus senators are available. Interested students need a petition of 100 names to be elected.
