Career Connections ‘97

Career Connections ’97, sponsored by the Appalachian State University’s Career Development Center, will offer career opportunities to students in the student union’s Grandfather Mountain Ballroom today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Representatives from over 100 companies and nine graduate schools will be on hand to offer career information, as well as interview and internship information.

Hubbard Street Dance

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the premier dance troupe of the Windy City, comes to Appalachian Nov. 3. Their performance is  part of the university’s Performing Arts Series.

The show will begin at 8 p.m. in Farthing Auditorium.

The internationally-known dance group offers a combination of jazz, modern dance, ballet and theatre dance.

Tickets are $6 for university students and children under 12; $12 for university faculty/staff or senior citizens;  and $15 for all others.

David Spade

Tickets are still available for the David Spade comdey show, to be held Thursday in Appalachian State University’s Farthing Auditorium.

The show is approximately three-fourths full, and Farthing Auditorium ticket representatives estimate a full house for Spade’s performance.

Advance student tickets are $10; tickets for the public and at the door are $15.

The show begins at 8 p.m. Thursday, with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Brass Honors Recital

Horn player Brian D. Joyce and trumpeter Franz E. Merrell will perform tonight as part of the Appalachian State University Honors Recital Series.

The recital begins at 8 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. The free concert is sponsored by the School of Music.

Both Joyce and Merrell are music education majors at Appalachian. They will perform selections from Beethoven, Stradella and Strauss, as well as others.
