In light of recent alchohol related deaths at universities such as MIT and LSU and last year’s sexual assualts here at Appalachian State, the Counseling Center, Wellness Center and Campus Alchohol and Drug Prevention Comittee are sponsoring Alchol and Drug Awareness Week.
According to Dr. Denise Glassman in the Counseling Center, the week will include events which are focused on encouraging responsibility, not neccessarily abstinance.
The week climaxes Wednesday night in I.G. Greer Auditorium with a dramatic presentation by Donn Claiborne, who was involved in an alchohol related accident. Monday through Thursday there will be a Wrecked Car Exhibit and Memorial on Sanford mall. Students are invited to tie ribbons on the cars in memory of drinking and driving victims.
