Robert Inman

Writer and former Charlotte news anchor Robert Inman comes to Appalachian State University Nov. 13 as part of the Visiting Writers Series. Inman will read from his works at 7:30 p.m. in the student union’s Calloway Peak Room. A question and answer session in Room 322-S Sanford Hall from 3:30-4:30 p.m. precedes his reading.

Inman is the author of several works of Southern fiction, including “Old Dogs and Children” and “Dairy Queen Days,” his most recent work. For more information, call 262-2979.

Call For Photos

The Department of Residence Life seeks student photos of residence hall living, to be used on the cover of the 1998 Residence Life Contract License Booklet.

Students may submit any clear, high-quality pictures showcasing any element of on-campus life. Diverse photos are especially welcome, and while this is not a prize-awarding contest, the winning photographers’ names will be recognized in the contract booklet.

All photos will be returned, and students may submit more than one entry. Submit photos in care of Wendy Walsh, Department of Residence Life, John Thomas Student Support Building. Include name and ASU Box number on all photos. Entries are due Nov. 21.

Blood Drive

A blood drive sponsored by Appalachian State University’s Public Relations Student Society of America is planned for Nov. 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the student union’s Grandfather Mountain Ballroom.

The drive is held in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

Anyone interested in donating blood may call 264-6422 for an appointment.

Faculty Night Out

Appalachian State University’s Panhellenic Council invites faculty members to participate in its fourth annual Faculty Night Out, Nov. 15.

Panhellenic members will provide free babysitting to allow faculty members a free evening. Activities and snacks will be provided for children from 6-10 p.m. in Boone United Methodist Church, King Street.

Those interested should RSVP with the Center for Student Involvement at 262-6252, by Nov. 11.

Joint Choir Concert

Rosen Concert Hall will host a joint concert between Appalachian State University’s Treble Choir and Watauga High School’s Advanced Women’s Chorus tonight at 8 p.m.

Admission to the concert is by donation of canned goods. All donations further the School of Music’s food drive for the Watauga County Hunger Coalition.
