Items ranging from gift certificates to vacation packages are on the auction block for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Student Association’s annual holiday auction, to be held Wednesday at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center.
The public is invited to attend a reception and viewing of all auction items at 5:30 p.m. in the inn’s Trillium North Ballroom, with bidding starting beginning at 6 p.m.
There are now over 100 auction items available, including golf packages, overnight packages for local resorts and state hotels, ski passes, restaurant certificates and passes to various attractions.
The Hospitality and Tourism Management Student Association is an Appalachian State University organization open to all students.
The main purpose of the organization is to promote hospitality and tourism industry.
The organization hosts guest speakers throughout the semester from the industry. The group also attends a hospitality job fair in Atlanta once a year and hosts its own “App Spring” in which recruiters from the area come and talk to students.
“This student association is one of the things that is best about Appalachian State,” said Dana Clark, adviser of the organization. “We actively work to get students good jobs and internships.”
“This auction is a great thing,” said Clark.
“We have good deals, and everything is sold for far less than you could
get anywhere else.”
