Spring Break Residence Hall Closings

University Residence Halls will close at 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, for Spring Break.

Halls will reopen on Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m.

Any student having a reguarly scheduled class beyond 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, must notify their Residence Director by noon Monday, Feb. 23, in order to remain until 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

Residence Life staff will be conducting fire and safety inspections during the break.

All students leaving for Spring Break should close and lock windows, close curtains and blinds, unplug all appliances except the refrigerator, water plants, make arrangements for aquariums and turn off all lights.
 

Mountain AIDS Support Council Quilt
 

Mountain AIDS Support Council (MASC) announces that sections of the national AIDS Quilt will soon be in the High Country.

The quilt panels will be displayed during several memorial and sharing services.

Public viewings will be Saturday, Feb. 28, from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 29, from 3-5 p.m.
at St. Luke’s Church.

Japanese Film Showing
 

The Japanese film “Dreams” will be shown Tuesday, March 17, at 7 p.m. in the Linville Falls Room in the Plemmons Student Union.

The film is free and open to the public.

The film is is part of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department’s international film festival.

Peking Acrobats

Direct from China, the Peking Acrobats will perform on Tuesday, March 10, at 8 p.m. in Farthing Auditorium.

The performance is part of the Performing Arts Series presented by the Office of Cultural Affairs.

Tickets for the performance are $6 for students and children under 12; $12 for seniors and faculty/staff; and $15 for others.

Russian National Poet
 

Yevgeny  Yevtushenko, Russia’s best-known living poet, will speak on Wednesday, March 11, at 8 p.m. in Farthing Auditorium.

The presentation is free and will include a reading of Yevtushenko’s award-winning poetry.
