Twenty-three students turn out to clean up campus

Twenty-three students participated in a campus clean up, co-sponsored by the Student Center Board and the Ecology Club, Thursday, April 20, at 5 p.m.  This activity was part of the Earth Week.

The clean-up group met at the downstairs patio of the Student Center and spread out over the entire campus.

Twenty-three people participated, according to Bruce Smith, chairman of the Student Center Board.

“The big problem is cigarette butts,” Smith stated. “The campus is in bad shape.  Of course there is bigger trash, but it could be worse.”

There will be another clean up this May, and plans are to have at least one each year, Smith commented.

Smith added that there will be announcements during the outside activities to make sure people keep the grounds clean during and after the Rally events.

The clean-up crews traveled along the main routes by the cafeteria, library, dorms, and through the lounging crowd on Sanford Mall.

Trash was then taken to the green dumpsters which are placed over the campus.
