Bolick and Preston Powell announced their candidacies for Student Government
Association (SGA) president and vice-president, respectively, on Monday
in the Linville Falls room of the Student Union.
Along with campaign manager Joanna Clary, Bolick and Powell shared
some insights on why they are running and also answered questions from
the audience.
“Our mission during this campaign is to provide the best service and
the best leadership possible,” said Powell.
Bolick pledged that they would “recommit” themselves back to the student
body.
“We want to focus on students and the student body here at Appalachian,”
said Bolick.
Powell was a member of the SGA cabinet, but he resigned last week to
“concentrate solely on this campaign and my work towards the students.”
In regards to their campaign platforms, Bolick and Powell could not
comment on that until the official campaigning period starts, which is
March 20.
Bolick and Powell are looking to improve leadership on campus.
“The main problem with leadership is that sometimes it doesn’t take
into concern who it is trying to lead,” said Bolick. “Our main emphasis
now is that we are student-centered and we want to be servants of the students.”
