Making Exceptions
I usually advocate basic wellness ideas – eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, get eight hours of sleep a night and keep stress to a minimum by doing tasks promptly and not procrastinating.
However, there are times in my life where I find myself flouting my own best advice, when I want to stay out all night partying even though there is a test tomorrow morning. I have tried, like every other college student, to rationalize this, but it seems simple: I do things that don’t abide by my own rules.
The question, then, is how solid should those rules be. |

I hope our summer readers out there will forgive me for being a bit behind with the following review, but being an avid fan of horror movies I am really excited after seeing The Strangers.
Supposedly based on a true story, the plot follows James Hoyt (Scott Speedman) and Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler), a couple just leaving a friend’s wedding and heading out to a log cabin vacation home in the woods. Things are tense from the get go after an argument between the two leave them both teary eyed and angry.
Upon arriving at the house, the story begins to unfold as to why there is so much hostility between the couple and the events that took place during the wedding.

A look ahead to autumn
Is it football season yet? These are among the tougher times of the year for me. Sometimes I might even find myself a little depressed. The NBA season is over now that the Boston Celtics have emerged victorious over the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.
The NHL season finished a few weeks ago. The College World Series will conclude this week with the University of Georgia Bulldogs facing off against the Fresno State Bulldogs. |

Standing up for love
At family picnics and reunions, my mother loves to tell the story of when I first stood up for myself.
At a McDonald’s playground when I was about four, a little boy was standing outside of the ball pit guarding it, making sure no one went in.
Being obedient and a child that usually followed directions, I listened to him, went back to my mother and told her I wasn’t allowed to play in the ball pit. Quickly, my vibrant and strong-willed mother instructed me that he didn’t have the right to let other children in and out of the ball pit and I could play where I wish.
