In less than two weeks, more than 1,000 students will say goodbye to Appalachian State University.

IMPORTANT GRADUATION INFORMATION
- Check campus
mailbox, because important mailers will be sent that include a
commencement invitation students should bring to their graduation.
- There is no rehearsal for graduation.
- All graduating students are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony.
- Caps and gowns can be purchased through the day of commencement at the University Bookstore.
- Diplomas or transcripts cannot be released if a student has an unpaid
balance on their student account. Graduating students should contact
the Student Accounts Office (262-2113), the Library (262-2818) and the
Bookstore (262-3070) to make sure balances are paid.
- A $15 diploma fee has been posted to all graduating senior’s accounts and must be paid by the end of the semester.
GRADUATION DRESS
Only traditional
academic regalia, a cap, gown and hood, can be worn to commencement.
Business attire is recommended under the gown. The tassle should be on
the right side of the cap. After degrees are received, the tassle may
be moved to the left side of the cap.
HONORS GRADUATES
Honors candidates based on GPAs will be recognized during the ceremony.
Cum Laude: 3.45
Magna Cum Laude: 3.65
Summa Cum Laude: 3.85
The GPA used to
recognize these honors is the cumulative GPA earned through the
preceding semester, not the current semester. To symbolize honors
achievements, honor’s cords will be worn by these students – they have
been sent to the student’s permanent address.
