The 10th annual MusicFest ‘N Sugar Grove brought some of the best bluegrass in the world to the mountains of North Carolina this weekend.
Formerly known as the Doc Watson MusicFest, the festival attracts fans of all ages from all over the country.
Over
eighteen bands performed on one of two stages all day Friday and
Saturday. They took stage at either the main open-walled tent, which
had seating for nearly a thousand, or the solar stage, which used only
renewable energy and sat a smaller group.
A portion of the proceeds funds Cove Creek Preservation &
Development, Inc., a company working with the community to preserve the
Old Cove Creek High School building. A cornerstone of the festival, the
high school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in
1998 and is now in need of restoration.
The festival also provided funding for the annual Doc and Rosa Lee
Watson Scholarship granted to a local student majoring in Sustainable
Development at Appalachian State University. For more information, go
