Over the course of the summer several faculty and staff positions were filled at Appalachian State University. A new vice chancellor for university development was named, along with an interim dean for the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and several coaches in the athletics department.
Allison Gregory
Allison Gregory became an assistant coach for the Appalachian State University women’s basketball team on May 22.
Gregory is a 2002 graduate of Georgia Southern University and helped
lead her collegiate team to two Southern Conference Championships.
After graduating, she went on to Reinhardt University where she served as an assistant varsity coach.
The year before
she arrived, Reinhardt’s women’s basketball team had a record of 6-26.
However, the record improved to 20-13 during her first year.
All programs that she has been a part of have improved their records the first year of her involvement.
“We’re excited to have her,” Appalachian’s Women’s Basketball Head Coach Adrienne Shuler said.
Matt Ginipro
Matt Ginipro will serve as head volleyball coach.
He fills the position after Chad Callihan left to become assistant coach at the University of Georgia.
Ginipro has 12 years of experience, which includes serving as head associate coach at the University of Virginia.
Susan H. Pettyjohn
Susan H. Pettyjohn, currently the associate vice president for
university development at The College of William and Mary, will take
the position of vice chancellor for university development at
Appalachian on Sept. 4.
She will replace interim vice chancellor Jerry L. Hutchens, who served as interim chancellor for the past three years.
Pettyjohn is a Western North Carolina native, and her step daughter is a graduate of Appalachian.
Dr. Glenda Treadaway
Dr. Glenda Treadaway has been named the interim dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts.
Treadaway replaces Dr. Mark Estepp, who left to become president of Southwest Virginia Community College in Richlands, Va.
Treadaway has been chair of the department of communication at Appalachian since June 2005.
The studies of the College of Fine and Applied Arts include art,
communication, family and consumer sciences, health, leisure and
exercise science, military science and leadership, nursing, technology
and theatre and dance.
Treadaway said she is honored to have been chosen and is excited to get started.
