Welcome back to school all incoming, returning Appalachian students

After months of dormant sidewalks, hustle and bustle again fills the air at Appalachian State University.

Cars fill parking lots, boxes fill dorm lobbies and voices return to the lawn of Sanford Mall.

Some students are returning for another year with old friends, while others are just beginning their journey.

The Appalachian would like to welcome all of the new and old faces on campus for what promises to be another successful year.

Several changes have occurred within the pages of The Appalachian this summer.  Regular readers may notice a few of the tweaks that have been made to the paper, including the sports section now located on the back page and a redesigned opinion section.

Though the changes are an ongoing attempt to improve The Appalachian, the strength of our paper still lies in its readers.

We would like to encourage you to pick up the paper this year and inform yourselves on exactly what is going on around you.

Furthermore, challenge us to be the best paper that we possibly can be.

We are here for you – the Appalachian community – and without your input, there is no way to create the perfect campus newspaper for you.
