Congratulations Appalachian State University football players, staff Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 September 2007
The Appalachian wishes to offer genuine congratulations and thanks to the Appalachian State University football players, coaches and staff for their victory against the University of Michigan.

Thank you for providing Appalachian with a channel into the media that we can all be proud of.

While the victory Saturday came as a great surprise to many of us, it has taught us to never underestimate the power of a team with heart.

In the midst of a massive victory for the Mountaineer football program, The Appalachian urges students to remember that it is now, more than ever, all eyes on Appalachian.

Even with two national championships under its belt, the exposure Appalachian is likely to receive from both the media and individual fans nationwide has been amplified.

Thanks to the Appalachian football program, the entire country is now aware of the location of Boone, the correct way to pronounce Appalachian, and is not likely to underrate our school again.

After some Michigan fans booed and harassed our fans in Ann Arbor, Mich., last weekend, we urge Mountaineer fans to uphold the goals of the new “CLASS” sportsmanship campaign by showing respect to all fans in attendance.

In Appalachian’s first home game of the season Saturday against Lenoir-Rhyne College, fans have every reason to be excited.

However, students should not forget the new student ticketing policy.

Students must print tickets beforehand at http://ticketreturn.com/appstate in order to gain admittance to the game.

Students should also be aware of the tailgating changes, including the allotment of Raley Parking Lot spots by lottery.

Students will no longer be allowed to park in Raley Parking Lot without winning a spot through the Student Government Association lottery.

Open tailgating locations include Greenwood, Hill Street, Horn in the West, Legends and State Farm parking lots.

The Appalachian again thanks and congratulates each and every component of the Mountaineer football program, fans here in Boone and across the nation, and finally, Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock for being a prevalent and energetic supporter of students all over campus.
