Baseball team sweeps The Citadel |

The Citadel knocked-off Appalachian State University Sunday.The Mountaineers fell in a seven-run hole by the sixth inning, but trimmed the lead to just two by the eighth. The Citadel tacked on a late run to win with a final score of 9-6.
Junior Jason Rook made the start for Appalachian State, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks.
Senior Andrew Franco hit his second home run of the season, and Rook added three hits to help his cause.
This was the third and deciding game between The Citadel and Appalachian State in a series that took place over the weekend.
On Friday, the Mountaineers fell to The Citadel 6-5. On Saturday, Appalachian State won 14-6.
The Mountaineers’ next game is Monday against the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Women’s Track
The
Appalachian State University women’s track team traveled to Columbia,
S.C., Saturday to compete in the University of South Carolina’s Weems
Baskins Invitational.
Freshman
Charlotte Walsh placed first in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase and
freshman Stephanie Payne finished third for the Mountaineers.
ASU also did well in the long jump, with three athletes finishing in the top seven.
Senior Lily Tallent placed third in the javelin throw.
Senior Brittani Williams placed second in the shot put and third in the hammer throw.
In relays, the women’s A team finished fifth and the B team finished seventh.
