Holmes Convocation Center’s ticketing office was alive and buzzing Friday afternoon. Since tickets for the 2008 Appalachian State University football season went on sale April 2, telephone lines have yet to rest.
With employees busily running around the office, tickets spurting from printers and extra help juggling tickets for current events, the office appeared to be in organized chaos.
“At this point it’s been a very positive response without a doubt,” ASU ticket manager Steve White said. “We opened season ticket sales, both renewal and new, on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and we are open from [9 a.m. to 4 p.m.], and since then we’ve been answering the phone lines constantly, eight hours a day.”
At this time the ticketing office does not have a definite number sold; however, it is evident that the
price increase on season tickets has not discouraged the high demand for seats to the Appalachian six
regular-season games.
In 2007, season tickets cost $135. In 2008, a season ticket will cost $160 including an additional $10
stadium enhancement fee.
The additional fee will go toward the East side expansion and improvements on the West side as well,
White said.
With tickets in such high demand, getting the best view calls for membership in the Yosef Club, which
requires a minimum donation of $250 or $500 to be around the 50-yard line.
The ticketing office is working with the Yosef Club to form a point-reward system for Yosef Club
members to sell season tickets - one more endeavor to bring more people to Kidd Brewer Stadium this
fall.
“This point-reward system will definitely help determine where the club members’ seats will be,” White
said. “At this point we have to wait on assigning seats until we can see how many renewals will be
coming in.”
The deadline for previous season-ticket holders to renew and return to their same seats is May 16.
For those who don’t want to purchase a season-ticket package, single-game regular season tickets will
go on sale Aug. 5.
“The football team’s success has been great for the university,” director of marketing Samantha
Stevens said. “People are excited for football and it’s really helping our marketing efforts. We’re seeing
record sales this year, while last year home games sold out. Advertising-wise you can’t ask for more.”
