Our Perspective

The Appalachian
has experienced some of the most intense news content in it’s recent history.

With that being said, the newly appointed 2008-09 editorial board would like to send thanks and appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication that the 2007-08 editorial board and staff has offered this student publication.

Next year, The Appalachian will continue to cover and provide the community with news happenings in the High Country in an accurate, timely and thorough manner.
As members of the new editorial board, The Appalachian would like to assure readers that we will continue to remain a forum for the community including faculty, staff and students.

You deserve to have your voice heard, and we want to be an open avenue for anyone willing to write a letter to the editor.

The Appalachian would also like to express our goals in terms of how we will operate for the coming year.

We will have more breaking news published on our Web site, theapp.appstate.edu and more multimedia elements.

As news is continuing to migrate to solely Internet coverage, The Appalachian considers The Appalachian Online vital to successfully informing it’s readership of pertinent information.

We will continue to grow as a publication by covering breaking news, expanding our sports coverage, balancing features and entertainment and running fact-based opinion pieces.

We hope that you will continue to grow as a reader and question our stories, question the administration and question the world around you as you become a well-informed member of society.

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication Clair Baxter, Editor in chief 2007-08. You will be remembered in The Appalachian student publications office.

Goodbye and good luck Appalachian State University senior class of 2008.

Sincerely,
•Jon LaFontaine, Editor in chief 2008-09
•Ashlee Little, Associate Editor for Online Operations
•Lindsay Tigar, Associate Editor for Editorial Content
•Chrisan Tolentino, Associate Editor for Production Operations
•Anne Baker, News Desk Editor
•Allison Casey, Lifestyles Desk Editor
•Ashley Davis, Sports Desk Editor
•Alisha Park, Chief Photographer
•Ryan Wixted, Assistant Online Operations
