An Open Letter to the University of Southern California football team

Dear USC Trojans football players,

I wanted to take this time to personally thank you for taking Ohio State behind the woodshed on September 13.

You have saved college football fans like me from having to suffer from another year of watching Ohio State waltz through a ridiculously easy schedule on way to a beat down in the BCS National Championship Game.

You went ahead and took care of that beat down in week three.

All week I heard about how Ohio State couldn’t wait to show that they belonged on the same field as USC.

After last Saturday it’s clear they don’t even belong in the same division as you. Ohio State looked like an FCS rather than FBS team.

Also, thank you for making ESPN look stupid for hyping this game up so much.

ESPN does this every time there is a game between top 10 teams in any sport. Last year it was for the game between the NFL’s two undefeated team: NewEngland and Indianapolis.

The year before, it was a match up of No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Michigan. That actually turned out to be a good game, but the hype ESPN gave it was absurd.

The year was 2006, and ESPN was calling it the game of the century! I think you should wait a little longer than 6 years to decide that.

ESPN takes these games and ruins them by talking about the game every ten minutes on SportsCenter and giving them stupid nicknames like “The Collision in the Coliseum.”

So thank you USC for beating the tar out of Ohio State to the point that is was not a good game. The egg is once again on ESPN’s collective face.

Thank you USC.

Sincerely,
Rob Jenkins
