Response lacks knowledge, merit
Clan Clifton’s response to my letter claims I ignored Obama’s “2 terms” in the U.S. senate. Clifton fails to realize most of those “two terms” were spent running for president.
Obama’s actual real time experience is 140 odd days in the senate.
If Obama had spent those 140 days fighting hard for the “hope and change” he loves to babble about, then
Clifton might have a valid point, however Obama’s accomplishments in the senate were minimal at best.
He
has sponsored a few bills, and introduced an act to stop troop surge in
Iraq (which was more or less shameless pandering to the
peace-at-any-price crowd), but that is not enough experience to hand
him the office of the presidency.
Further,
I think it is indicative of the mindset of most Obama supporters when
Clifton said my letter wasn’t from an “educated opinion,” and shouldn’t
have been published. Apparently anyone who dares question the
experience of the Great One should be silenced as a heretic.
And
while we’re on the subject I think someone who thinks Obama served 2
“terms” in the senate should be more careful about who they call
uneducated: Senators serve 6 year terms, so Obama hasn’t even served 1
term.

Lack of policy enforcement breaks law
I am appalled at the lack of response of both the students who choose to smoke as well as the ASU police department following the new “policy” concerning smoking on campus.
What no one seems to realize, including Jessie Lovelace, is that this isn’t enacted by the university, it’s North Carolina state law- a law which even the ASU police department has publicly stated they will not be enforcing.
This is the real reason nobody is obeying the policy, not that it’s confusing.
That’s just an excuse.
The solution of “avoid areas where people are smoking” is a bit difficult when you get stuck walking behind one smoker or have to enter a building surrounded by smokers.
The removal of the cigarette bins around campus is also an issue.
Even though the law isn’t enforced, people are still smoking directly outside of buildings and without somewhere to dispose their butts, they are carelessly tossed on the ground, making our campus look trashy!
Either make up your mind to completely follow the laws or not, ASU.
If doing 10 over on River Street isn’t a violation of my rights as a driver, this isn’t a violation of anyone else’s rights, it’s a law.
