Appalachian State University’s women’s club lacrosse team took on Radford University at State Farm Sports Complex, Sunday, Oct. 26,.

ASU scored seven goals but fell just short of beating Radford who had eight.

At the end of the game the team was happy with their overall performance, just not the tally in the loss column.

“We looked really good today and have made major improvements,” junior Bailey L. Gronbeck said.

With one game under the team’s belt, the team has signs of talent.

“Our team is already 20 times better [than] the team last year,” sophomore Kathleen P. Facciola said.

Even though there were plenty of positives from the players after the game Facciola and Gronbeck only see things the team needs to improve on.

The two said the team needs to improve its ground balls, transitions, running, and just getting in shape.

Part of the improvement in the team may be accounted for in the team chemistry according to the players.

“We all get along really well,” sophomore Erin E. Brawley said. “We grab lunch together on campus and hang out on the weekends.”

Freshman Elizabeth H. Willette said she finds the team chemistry to come from the sense of humor they all have and the variety of personalities on the team, which she believes in the end will help the team.

“I think we will see that our chemistry this year will really pay off in the games to come,” Willette said.

With the season officially started, the team’s next tournament is the Turkey Shoot this weekend at Radford in Virginia.
