“People really enjoy winning and seeing people they know on TV,” Buzz Berry, host and producer of Boone’s local game show, “Sqrambled Scuares,” said.
“They like seeing family members, co-workers, friends, the person who works at the local grocery store and even classmates,” he said.
This local game show has awarded fun and prizes to Boone residents since 1999 and celebrated the taping of their 322nd and 323nd shows last Tuesday.
“Sqrambled Scuares” features local contestants and awards local prizes.
Each
contestant has the opportunity to win up to $150 as well as coupons,
gift certificates and gift cards for local restaurants and tickets for
area events and attractions.
Berry,
who has been in radio and television for years, said of his motivation
for creating the show, “I’ve always known that I wanted to do that, to
create an incentive for locals to have fun and win prizes, and I don’t
know of any other local television game show like this in this country.”
BZB Productions, is the production company run by Berry and his production team including his wife Autumn.
They strongly encourage individuals to come by and watch the taping of the show.
“Sqrambled
Scuares” is taped in front of a studio audience every Tuesday night at
6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and it is free to come and watch.
Those
who are interested in coming to view the taping are treated to free
snacks courtesy of BZB Productions and are invited to participate in
the show by adding sound effects and clapping for the contestants.
“One of
the best parts about the live studio audience is that you always see
the regulars, the people who come in every Tuesday to watch the
taping,” Berry said.
The show
is then aired on television every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7
p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 10 p.m. 10:30 p.m. on
charter cable channel 14.
Mary J.
Lyash, a senior elementary education major and Jessica L. Dinwiddie, a
junior elementary education major, are set to appear on the show
tonight.
“I’ve lived here for four years and it’s been my dream to be on the show,” Lyash said.
“I really enjoyed it and it was so much fun.”
Dinwiddie left the shows Tuesday night taping with the full $150 and several gift certificates.
“I’ve wanted to be on the show for a while,” Dinwiddie said. “Buzz is so awesome, I mean how could you not.”
