 Strength, will required for peace

After reading Laura Tabor’s opinion piece “Conflict Demands Cease-Fire,” I had to reply to it.

I understand everyone is allowed to have an opinion, but this opinion really got under my skin.

I don’t support either Israel or Hamas. I believe the Middle East would be better off without Israel, and for the United Nations to give Israel land to begin with was a bad idea.

Hamas will not lay down their arms until Israel has been destroyed, and due to that fact, Israel cannot lay down its arms.

If Israel did, they would be attacked from all sides.

Even if one side lays down their arms, that doesn’t mean the other side will.

If you want peace in the Middle East, you must remove Israel from that area, but no one is willing to do that.

Furthermore, if one side would put down their arms, the global community would step in, but this would do nothing.

Time and time again the U.N. has shown that it doesn’t have the will nor  the strength to step into a hot spot and fix the problem.

You can’t enforce global will without an Independent Military to enforce it.

There will be problems in the world until someone has both the strength and will to do what needs to be done.

To answer Tabor’s  question, there is nothing anyone can do to make lasting peace in the Middle East.
