Obama speaks to generation Y
Tuesday’s commentary, “Obama speaks to generation Y” was misguided in its perspective of Obama. First, for Obama to not put his hand on the Bible would have been political suicide. Besides, any more controversy surrounding the inauguration would have brought more people to watch it. The title of the article was incorrect as well, because he wasn’t speaking to us as much as our children’s generation. The past two generations (X and Y), are the greediest, most selfish and self-centered generations ever.
For you to
think our generation is going to make things better is a pipe dream. We
no longer ask what we can do for our country, but what our country can
do for us. Now Obama is laying the problem of the economy on everyone,
and saying we are all in this together. The common person did not make
this problem, and they should not have to clean it up.
Second, how much can the common person do to change the bad economy? Not much, as it is Obama and his cabinet’s job.
Also, Obama
can make changes, but that’s not the question. The question is what
type of change and how those changes will affect people. Most people
see Obama as the second coming; however, he does not have the strength
of will to do what needs to be done. This is what he proved by signing
the closing of Guantanamo Bay.
Now, if you think in four to eight years Obama will fix all, or even most of the problems, then you are fooling yourself.
Also, the
last person to act like the second coming was Adolf Hitler and you saw
how that worked out. I’m not saying Obama will become the next Hitler
or the outcome will be the same, but we need to be careful of heroes
(and those who act like heroes.) No matter how much Obama does or
doesn’t do, he will fail. There is just too much that needs work and
too little time and money.
With our generation being the future of America, all I can say is God help America.
