‘He’s Just Not That Into You’
“He’s Just Not That Into You” is a romantic comedy with an all-star cast.
The story revolves around six or so interconnected relationships, with all their ups and downs. Though the movie could generally be conceived as a “chick flick,” it definitely contains a portion of male humor and insight.
My favorite part is a scene when Drew Barrymore is in the grocery
store with Scarlett Johansson, and they are discussing Barrymore’s
prospective relationships.
Barrymore talks about how it is way too complicated, and she
goes on about MySpace, her home phone, her cell phone, her e-mail, her
“snail mail” and more.
‘Envy’: Jealousy with class
by VICTORIA MEADE
Ah yes, Spring Break: a time for cheap vacations and even cheaper
paperbacks. In lieu of embarrassing yourself on the beach with a
variation on Fabio’s romantic escapades, I recommend the newly printed
installment in the “Luxe” series.
Although I have enjoyed all three books in this series, “Envy” is the one to take.
The story follows a group of wealthy, young Manhattanites living the high life and scheming like low lives.
The setting is Manhattan, 1899.
The story weaves through the climb of a status-seeking servant,
a dangerously smart new-moneyed debutante and an “old New York”
daughter who falls in love with a stable boy.
Dan Auerbach’s solo debut
Dan Auerbach, front man for blues-rock duo The Black Keys, released his first solo album Feb. 10 to rave reviews.
The album provides a gritty blues sound reminiscent of the
basement-recorded early Keys albums in combination with mellow and
heartfelt tunes like “Whispered Words,” and “When the Night Comes.”
But whether it’s hard-hitting sounds of psychedelic guitar found
on some tracks or the bluegrass undertones found on others, Auerbach
continues to prove himself as one of the best guitarists on the market.
This album is fourteen tracks of incredible music and fans of The Black Keys will not be disappointed.
