The Appalachian State University women’s basketball team fell 71-47 to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga at the Homes Convocation Center, Monday.

The loss moves the Mountaineers to 6-11 in conference play this season and propels the Lady Mocs to the best conference record at 16-2.

Forward Brittany Mixon recorded her third double-double in the last four games as she led the Apps with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Mixon was one of three Mountaineers to play all forty minutes of the game, along with Brittney Spencer and Sam Ramirez.

ASU shot 38.6 percent from the field compared to Chattanooga’s 41.2 percent and were only able to shoot 1-9 on 3-point attempts, compared to Chattanooga shooting 12-36 on 3-point attempts.

While the Mountaineers were able to grab 36 rebounds, the Lady Mocs came out with 44 including 16 on the offensive side.

Chattanooga scored 18 second chance points as a result of their offensive rebounding.

The Mountaineers will start a two game road-trip as they head to the College of Charleston Saturday and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Monday.

They will return home to close out their regular season against Georgia Southern University on February 28.
