Film shows male bonding
by CRAIG DIXON
Intern Lifestyles Reporter
Peter [Paul Rudd] has no friends. None. So when Peter proposes to his sweetheart Zooey [Rashida Jones], he suddenly finds himself on a mission to do some platonic male bonding… and to find a best man for his wedding.
Peter’s family “hook him up” on a series of “man-dates” in hopes of finding “the one,” that special person in his life that will hand him the ring to slip onto his bride’s finger.
Over the course of Peter’s struggle, he encounters a variety of awkward situations and strange characters as he tries to understand the complexities of finding a friend.
Sydney
[Jason Segel] walks into Peter’s life to fill the void and over the
course of Peter’s engagement, a hilarious “bromance” blooms between the
two. John Hamburg’s “I Love You Man,” is a funny and a sweet look into
male bonding.
Pearl Jam re-releases debut album
by PATRICK BABCOCK
Lifestyles Reporter
Pearl Jam reissued their debut album, “Ten,” with a number of extra tracks, most of which seem superfluous.
The
“Brendan O’Brien Mixes” of each of the old songs are billed as versions
that sound more like the rest of Pearl Jam’s discography, having been
produced by their normal producer. They sound, however, more like the
original songs with the volume turned up, leaving me to wonder why they
also included the original songs in the purchase.
New
songs include the amazing “Brother,” which easily ranks among the best
Pearl Jam songs, and a few recordings that make sense to be
never-before-heard and should have remained that way.
The iTunes purchase includes four live songs that sound like they were recorded on a cell phone.
Just buy the new mixes and “Brother” and ignore the fluff.
