New SGA administration promises open communication
The Appalachian would like to commend the administration of juniors management major Jonathan H. Meisner and exercise science major Michele D. Armstrong for introducing a new contract of open communication between the student media outlets of The Appalachian and WASU for the 2009-10 academic year.
Throughout their campaign, Meisner-Armstrong stressed the need for open communication between the Student Government Association and the student body. We feel this was something needed for next year’s SGA administration to be successful in carrying out its campaign platform.
There are several reasons we feel SGA’s commitment to the use of student media outlets will be beneficial.
Heightened
communication between SGA and student media will help the student body
further understand SGA initiatives and motives behind them.
Additionally,
The Appalachian believes this contract will help create and strengthen
a new, positive relationship between SGA and student media that has
been lacking during the current academic year.
Lastly,
we believe the contract will provide the student body with a way to
hold SGA accountable for what we hope to be limited, negative actions
in the future.
When SGA
has acted in a manner deserving of praise, the contract will create an
opportunity for students to celebrate its accomplishment.
For
these reasons, The Appalachian wishes to commend the Meisner-Armstrong
administration for its efforts to re-establish lines of communication
with student media outlets and wish it luck in its efforts to
effectively serve the student body of Appalachian State University.
