OUR PERSPECTIVE

Another year at Appalachian State University has begun—meaning The Appalachian will once again continue our coverage of local, state, national and world news.

As we do this, we have added a few ways for you to keep up to date with the latest breaking news and events. While our print edition will continue to be published twice a week, theapp.appstate.edu will be updated daily.

We are also doing our best to utilize social networking sites to the best of our ability, recognizing the value they have in making sure users have access to any breaking news in the quickest manner possible. If you “tweet,” follow us on Twitter at twitter.com/TheAppalachian, or find our group on Facebook by searching “The Appalachian 2009-10."

As we become more and more used to living in the digital age, those of us here at The Appalachian want to provide readers with online news updates the moment we find out about them, with expanded coverage in our twice-weekly publication.

We also encourage you to also look for staff members of The Appalachian at contact tables in Plemmons Student Union. We will be there every other week, handing out papers and speaking with students. If anyone has any questions, comments or story ideas, feel free to come talk to us at that time.

As always, we welcome letters to the editor and comments on our Web site. Our desire at The Appalachian is to become a forum for your ideas and concerns.

Freshmen, welcome to Appalachian—make the most of your time here, as any senior can testify it goes by quicker than you think. To those returning, The Appalachian wishes you the best of luck as you continue your collegiate careers.
