Since 1991, family members of departed Appalachian State University students have gathered at the annual Student Memorial Program, and on Saturday morning, the tradition continued in the lobby of B.B. Dougherty.

Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock expressed how special the program is during his opening address to the attendees.

“We don’t forget at Appalachian, we have a spirit here of remembering,” Peacock said. “[It] gives us at Appalachian State another day to remember, another time to reflect, another time to realize what we have lost on this campus and how much that means to us.”
